Who we are

Bluegum Systems Pty Ltd ("Bluegum", "we", "us", "our") is an Australian company based in Brisbane, Queensland. We provide industrial sensor hardware and a cloud-based data platform under the Cobalt brand.

If you have questions about this policy, email us at support@bluegum.systems.

What information we collect

Account information

When you create an account or make a purchase, we collect your name, email address, billing address, and payment information (processed by Stripe — we never see your full card number).

Sensor data

Your Cobalt hardware transmits readings (temperature, humidity, and other configured sensor values) to our servers. This data is associated with your account and stored for as long as your subscription is active, plus a 90-day grace period after cancellation.

Usage data

We collect standard web server logs (IP addresses, browser type, pages visited, timestamps) for security and debugging purposes. We do not use third-party analytics trackers.

How we use your information

  • To provide and operate the Cobalt platform
  • To process your hardware purchase and manage your subscription
  • To send transactional emails (order confirmation, alerts you configure, billing receipts)
  • To investigate support requests
  • To detect and prevent fraud or abuse
  • To comply with our legal obligations under Australian law

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your sensor data for advertising. We do not share your data with third parties except as required to operate the service (payment processing, email delivery) or as required by law.

Data storage and security

Your data is stored on servers located in Australia. We use industry-standard encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest. Access to production systems is restricted to authorised personnel only.

No system is perfectly secure. If we become aware of a data breach that is likely to result in serious harm to you, we will notify you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) as required by the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.

Your rights

Under the Australian Privacy Act 1988, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate information
  • Request deletion of your account and associated data
  • Complain to us about how we've handled your information

To exercise any of these rights, email support@bluegum.systems. We will respond within 30 days.

Cookies

We use a single session cookie to keep you logged in. We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or cross-site tracking of any kind. If you disable cookies, you won't be able to log in to the dashboard.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy we will notify you by email and update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
